Singapore Fashion Week is an event organized by Mercury Marketing & Communications to support Singapore brands and labels. Our aim is to cast a spotlight on homegrown and Asian designers by providing a platform that they may be celebrated and discovered - no just on our shores, but watched by millions, empowered by our digital live-streaming partner, Digital Fashion Week.
We are proud to present for the first time a prestigious and exciting line-up all-Asian superstar highlights. Our partnership at National Gallery is the perfect backdrop to cast that spotlight on world-class Asian designers.
We open Singapore Fashion Week at the Supreme Court Terrace with Guo Pei, an internationally celebrated Couture designer. She is one of very few Asian designers to show in Paris Haute Couture Week. She has dressed not only China's top celebrities like Fan Bing Bing, Zhang Zi Yi and Li Bing Bing, but also that 55-pound gold masterpiece worn by Pop-Queen Rihanna at last year's met Ball.
From New York, we welcome Mubai-born Indian-American red-carpet designer Naeem Khan who has dressed celebrities, divas and royalty from Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez to Anne Hathaway, Diane Kruger, Jennifer Lawrence and most recently, the beautiful yellow dress worn by First Lady Michelle Obama during our Prime Minister's visit to the White House.
Completing our all-Asian international designer highlight, we welcome Han Chong of London-based label Self-Portrait who has found worldwide success dressing the young jet-set and is stocked in stores across the world. Spotted in his creations have been Kristen Steward, Gigi Hadid and Miranda Kerr. This young designer hails from neighboring Malaysia, and can trubly be an inspiration to young designers all across South East Asia.
These international Asian highlights will open and close a week of over 20 fashion shows, which will include the true stars of Singapore Fashion Week 2016 - the homegrown designers. Labels to look out for include Max Tan, Aijek, Ong Shunmugam, Stolen, Nida Shay, Arissa X by Arissa Cheo, ALT by Angie Lai-Tay, Exhibitby Yoyo Cao, Chi Chi Von Tang and a jewellery showcase by our Official Partner Tiffany & Co.
We promise it is going to be a breathtakingly spectacular fashion week, with stunning creations by Guo Pei, red-carpet gowns by Naeem Khan, beautiful signature dresses by Self-Portrait and of course, our own Singapore designers. We are putting the spotlight on Asia and the Art back in to Fashion at Singapore Fashion Week 2016.
